- Independents will be wooed with shoes, slippers and cauliflower

Election symbols are already reserved for six recognized political parties. Lotus is reserved for BJP, hand (Panja) for Congress, elephant for BSP, broom for Aam Aadmi Party, hammer, sickle and star for Communist Party and election symbol book for National People’s Party.
Independent candidates for the assembly elections will also go door-to-door after the nomination process is over and woo voters with election symbols like shoes, slippers, socks, biscuits, cauliflower. The Election Commission has fixed 204 election symbols for independents. It is to inform that 59 election symbols have been reserved for state level parties in seven political and 24 states of the country, but the Election Commission will issue free election symbols for 2044 unrecognized parties and independents.
A total of 204 symbols including shoes, slippers, socks, socks, biscuits, cauliflower, capsicum, green chilli, petrol pump, neck tie have been selected by the Election Commission to distribute among the candidates in the assembly elections. 198 symbols issued by the Commission will be distributed as election symbols to unrecognized small parties and independent candidates.

Till now, 42 parties have got election symbols
The Election Commission has so far allotted the same election symbols to 42 parties in all 230 assemblies. Petrol pump to Rashtriya Sarvajan Vikas Party, Grapes to Jan Kalyan Party, Envelope to Rashtriya Jan Kranti Party, Television to Bharatiya Bahujan Kranti Dal, Dolly to Jan Adhikar Party, Brush to Bharatiya Awam Shakta, Saw to Gondwana Gantantra Party, Bharat Rakshak Party Batsman, table to Nagrik Adhikar Shakti Seva Party, cauliflower to Bharatiya Jan Sampark Party, phone charger to Jantavadi Congress Party, bottle to All India Hind Kranti Party and thumb election symbol to Sampoorna Samaj Party have been allotted.
