Tomar likely to become Assembly Speaker unopposed
Bhopal: The first session of the 16th Assembly started from Monday. On the first day of this four-day long session, Protem Speaker Gopal Bhargava administered the oath to the newly elected MLAs. 207 MLAs took oath on the first day of the session.
Protem Speaker Bhargava first administered the oath to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. After this, Congress Legislature Party leader Umang Singhar was sworn in. Most of the MLAs took oath in Hindi, while Dharmendra Lodhi, MLA from Bundelkhand, took oath in Sanskrit. The House began with two minutes of silence before the oath taking ceremony. The process of taking oath will continue on Tuesday, the second day of the session. The remaining MLAs will take oath on the second day. Kamal Nath is abroad. He has taken permission to remain absent from the entire session. Because of this, his oath can now be taken in the budget session. After this the Assembly Speaker will be elected. There will be an address by the Governor at the end of the session.
Cong showed unity
Here, on the first day of the session, Congress showed its unity. All the Congress MLAs gathered at the state Congress headquarters Indira Bhawan before reaching the Assembly. After this, all those leaders reached the assembly under the leadership of opposition leader Umang Singhar. Here, Congress MLAs met in the chamber of the Leader of the Opposition and made a strategy. Whereas former Chief Minister Kamal Nath did not participate in the proceedings of the Assembly. He remained absent from the House. He had already informed about this.
Tomar filed nomination
Former Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar filed his nomination papers for the post of Assembly Speaker. He submitted his nomination papers to Assembly Principal Secretary and Returning Officer AP Singh. On this occasion, MLAs from the ruling party as well as the opposition were present with Tomar. He has given his support to Tomar. Now it is certain that he will be elected unopposed.
Tight security arrangements
The impact of the incident in Lok Sabha was also visible in Madhya Pradesh Assembly. The security arrangements here were made well in advance. About 1000 security personnel were deployed inside and outside. Along with them, the Marshal of the Assembly was also looking after the security. Intensive checking was done before entering the assembly. Scanners were installed at the main entrance. The luggage was allowed to be taken inside only after scanning. Along with this, the admit card was also scrutinized. Due to tight security, the newly elected MLA and his family members had to struggle a lot to enter. Along with this, media personnel also faced inconvenience.
Nath will have to take oath in 6 months
Former Assembly Principal Secretary Bhagwandev Israni said that Kamal Nath will have to take oath within 6 months. Otherwise their membership may be terminated. Besides this, it is not mandatory to take oath in any session itself. The Speaker of the Assembly can also administer the oath in his room. Also, salary and allowances will not be deducted due to absence, because they become MLAs as soon as they get the certificate of election from the Collector. The oath is required only to participate in the proceedings of the Assembly. They will not be able to participate in the proceedings of the Assembly without taking oath.
