VD Sharma wins from Khajuraho by 5.5 lakh votes

Khajuraho: Amidst the Bharatiya Janata Party making history in Madhya Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the party’s state president Vishnudutt Sharma has retained his and the party’s hold on this seat by winning the Khajuraho parliamentary constituency with a margin of about five and a half lakh votes over his nearest rival.

According to the data released by the Election Commission, Sharma got seven lakh 72 thousand 774 votes. Kamlesh Kumar of Bahujan Samaj Party stood second with two lakh 31 thousand 545 votes.

The Congress had left the only Khajuraho seat in the state for its alliance partner Samajwadi Party under the alliance of opposition parties ‘India’. SP made Meera Yadav its candidate from here, but her nomination was canceled, after which there was no authorized candidate of the opposition parties left from here. Under these circumstances, the opposition alliance announced to support All India Forward Block candidate RB Prajapati from here. In the counting of votes held today, Prajapati got only 50 thousand 215 votes.

Sharma was also elected MP from this seat in the last Lok Sabha elections.
