Sensex rebounds with 1293 points gain; Nifty at record high

Mumbai, July 26 (UNI) Snapping 5-day losing trend, India’s benchmark indices rebounded on Friday as the BSE Sensex gained 1,292.92 points or 1.62 percent mainly on positive global cues and heavy buying in the index shares, while the NSE Nifty touched record high.

BSE Senex closed at 81,332.72 after touching day’s high of 81,427.18 during the intra-day, while the NSE Nifty rose 1.76 percent or 428.75 points and closed at record high 24,861.15, which is also 52-week high.

In the BSE Sensex all shares except one Nestle India closed in the green. Similarly in the Nifty index also 47 out of 50 shares ended in green. Only three shares, Nestle, Tata Consumer and ONGC closed lower than previous closing.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 2605 crore while the Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) had bought equities in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 2432 crore in the trading session on Thursday, according to data available.

The upbeat tone was quite evident from the beginning today as heavy buying was witnessed in IT majors and other heavy weight shares resulting both indices closing at record high or near record high.

According to sources in the trading community, strong domestic economic indicators and also positive data coming from US GDP will continue to keep the sentiments upbeat in the coming days.
