Shrine Board permits 125 langars this year’s Shri Amarnath Yatra

Jammu, May 13 (UNI) As the Jammu and Kashmir administration is gearing up to make all arrangements and preparations for an upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) this year has issued permission to set up 125 langars from Pahalgam and Baltal to the holy cave during the Yatra.

This year Amarnath Yatra is starting from June 29 and will conclude on August 19 (Rakshabandhan).

“The permission letters have been issued to the langar operators and the process of police verification of the sevadars (volunteers) to be engaged in the langars has been initiated,” official sources said.

They stated that the advance registrations for the yatra have already started from April 15 while the truck loaded with Langar items will start reaching Jammu and Kashmir from June 15.

“As per the Shrine Board guidelines, each volunteer to be engaged in langars, has to get a certificate after police verification is done in their respective areas,” they added.

As per officials, the Shree Amarnath Barfani Langars Organization (SABLO) has requested the Shrine Board to consider the Aadhar card or any other valid photo identity card of the volunteers for police verification.

However, the officials said that 22 langars will be set up in Baltal and Domel, 13 near the holy cave, eight in Sheshnag, five in Pissu Top, 12 in Panchtarni, seven in Chandanwari and other camps en route to the yatra.

“The Board has allowed to engage 65 volunteers in each langar and expecting a huge rush, it is demanded to increase the number,” said a member of SABLO.

He added that more than 60 langars will be installed from Lakhanpur to Srinagar in Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Ramban, Anantnag, Ganderbal and at other identified locations.

“Three langars are also to be established at Bhagwati Nagar Jammu based Yatri Niwas,” they said and added that the Shrine Board along with respective district administrations are holding review meetings to make all arrangements in place for smooth and hassle-free facilitation of pilgrims to Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine.
