Sensex down 264.27 pts

Mumbai, Sept 27 (UNI) Snapping a gaining streak in the last two sessions, the BSE Sensex on Friday slipped 264.27 pts to settle at 85,571.85 on weak global cues.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange ( NSE) eased 37.10 pts at 26,178.95.

Registering an all-time high on Thursday, the day opened at 85,893.84, rising 57 pts. It gained 142 pts at 85,978.25, a day high. In late trade, it tanked 362 pts at 85,474.58, a day low, before closing at 85,571.85, sliding 264.27 pts from its previous close.

The NSE registered days high and low at 26,277.35 and 26,151.40 pts respectively.

The stocks that dragged the market were Realty by 1.01 pc, Bankex by 0.89 pc, Utilities by 0.82 pc, and Financial Services by 0.79 pc.

The Mid-cap rose by 0.29 pc and Small-cap by 0.07 pc.

In 30 scrips, 15 advanced while 15 declined.

The losers were Powergrid by 2.75 pc to Rs 355.20, ICICI Bank by 1.80 pc to Rs 1307, Bharti Airtel by 1.74 pc to Rs 1739.15, HDFC Bank by 1.69 pc to Rs 1752.10 and Kotak Bank by 1.39 pc to Rs 1875.90.

The gainers were Sun Pharma by 2.67 pc to Rs 1949, Titan by 1.58 pc to Rs 3817, NTPC by 1.51 pc to Rs 440.95, and Reliance Industries by 1.50 pc to Rs 3045.60.

Asian Market witnessed a negative trend, as Strait Times fell 0.25 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 0.16 pc and Kospi by 0.82 pc.
