Bhopal, Congress has increased its number of seats by a century in the whole country but in Madhya Pradesh, which is called the heart of the country, not only did it fail to open its account but also questions have been raised on the political future of many big names of the party here. In fact, Congress has suffered a big defeat in Madhya Pradesh for the second time in six months. This despite the fact that Congress had fielded its big names in the Lok Sabha elections.
Congress could not even save Chhindwara seat, one of the strongest strongholds of Congress in the whole country. In such a situation, the question arises that what will happen to leaders like former CM Kamal Nath, former CM Digvijaya Singh and former Union Minister Kantilal Bhuria.
Political future of Nath in limbo
Veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath is considered close to the Gandhi family. The biggest blow to Congress in Madhya Pradesh has been in Kamal Nath’s area Chhindwara. This seat was in the possession of Congress for the last 40 years despite all the storms. It was considered the impregnable fort of Congress and Kamal Nath. But in the 2024 elections, his son Nakul Nath has been defeated by Vivek Bunty Sahu of BJP by 1 lakh 13 thousand 655 votes. The situation is such that during the counting itself, Nakul Nath left the center and went to his home.
In fact, six months ago, Congress contested the MP assembly elections under the leadership of Kamal Nath, in which the party suffered a crushing defeat. Earlier, when Kamal Nath became CM, he handed over his LS seat to his son Nakul Nath, but Nakul could not save his seat in the 2024 elections. Earlier, there were speculations about his leaving the party just before the Lok Sabha elections. Obviously, all the circumstances raise questions on the political future of 77-year-old Kamal Nath.
Digvijaya loses last election
Besides, Digvijaya has already said – this is the last election. Digvijay Singh has been the former CM of the state and is counted among the big Congress leaders not only in the state but also in the country. Despite this, he has tasted defeat in two important elections one after the other. Although this time he himself did not want to contest the elections, but the party said that all the big leaders of the state have to contest the elections. After this he contested from Rajgarh as a Congress candidate. During the election campaign, he was also constantly saying that this is his last election. He is 77 years old. In such a situation, after the latest defeat, his path in the party is no longer easy.
Bhuria’s shine dimmed in Ratlam
In the 2024 general elections, Congress has been disappointed by one of its big leaders. This leader is former Union Minister Kantilal Bhuria. He is considered a front-line leader in MP Congress. But in the 2024 elections, he lost badly from Ratlam. Earlier in 2019 also, the mandate of Ratlam was against him from the same seat. In such a situation, the question arises whether 74-year-old Kantilal Bhuria will be able to remain as active in the party.
