- Additional 50 MVA power transformer energized in south zone
Bhopal: Taking into account the increased electricity demand during summer, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has energized an additional 50 MVA power transformer at its 220 kV South Zone substation in Indore.
Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Mr. Pradhuman Singh Tomar stated that the estimated cost of installing this transformer is Rs. 315 lakh. This initiative aims to enhance the reliability and strength of power supply in Indore during the summer season. With this additional arrangement, around 50,000 electricity consumers in Indore city will benefit from quality and uninterrupted power supply.
Benefitting Areas
Superintending Engineer of MP Transco Indore, Jayesh Chopra, informed that with the energization of this transformer, the total capacity of the 220 kV South Zone substation has increased to 906 MVA.
Chopra also shared that this new setup will benefit areas such as Rajendra Nagar, Navlakha, Daly College, Pithampur, Public Paga, Rau, and the Sabzi Mandi region in Indore.
Increase in Indore’s Transformation Capacity
Following the installation of this power transformer, Indore city’s total transformation capacity has increased to 3336 MVA. MP Transco transmits power through one 400 kV substation in Indore, three 220 kV substations—South Zone Indore, Indore East (Bicholi), and Manglia—and eight 132 kV substations—Satyasai, Electronics Complex, Niranjanpur, Raukhedi, Mahalaxmi Nagar GIS, Indore West (Navdapanth), and Rau Extra High Tension substations. The total capacity now stands at 3336 MVA.
