Regarding the time of Maha Kumbh starting from Purnima in Prayagraj, people believe that Kumbh takes place at a particular place after 12 years, but it is not necessary that it happens every time. Kumbh can be organized again at a particular place even after 11 years. This is the statement of National Award winning science broadcaster Sarika Ghaaru.
She told that to decide in which year Kumbh will be organized, it is seen in which constellation Jupiter and Sun are. Jupiter returns to the same constellation after about 12 years, hence Kumbh takes place again at a particular place after 12 years.
Sarika told that according to scientific calculations, Jupiter revolves around the Sun in 4,330.5 days, about 50 days earlier in 12 years, there are 4380 days in 12 years. This difference of 50 days becomes 1 year after the 7th or 8th Kumbh. Due to this, Jupiter enters the designated constellation in the 11th year and the Kumbh is organized at that place only in the 11th year. This happened in Haridwar when Kumbh was held in 2021 after 2010. 83 years ago, this event was organized in the 11th year in 1938.
