Bengaluru, May 4 (UNI) In a significant development, JDS MLA HD Revanna was taken into custody from his father and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s residence here on Saturday as part of the ongoing investigation into the sex scandal case.
This development marks a pivotal turn in the probe into the allegations of sexual assault leveled against Revanna and his son Prajwal.
The decision to take Revanna into custody by SIT follows close on the heels of a Bengaluru court’s rejection of his anticipatory bail plea in the Mysuru abduction case.
The recent rescue operation led by the SIT resulted in the liberation of the kidnapped victim from Kalenahalli of Hunsur Taluk. The victim, reportedly held captive at a farmhouse belonging to Revanna’s close associate Rajasekhar, is scheduled to provide her testimony to the investigating panel.
The abduction case stems from allegations made by the son of a woman who had been employed at the Revanna household for nearly five years. According to the complainant, his mother was abducted from their residence on April 29 by Satish Babanna, a relative of Revanna.
The denial of anticipatory bail for Prajwal Revanna, who is implicated in a separate sexual assault case, adds another layer of complexity to the legal proceedings. Both father and son face serious accusations of sexual misconduct, including the alleged filming of the acts in question.
The initial case against Revanna was registered for alleged sexual harassment at the Holenarsipura police station in Hassan district, following a complaint lodged by a former household employee.
In a related development, the office of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah disclosed that a special investigative team examining the sex scandal allegations involving Prajwal has alerted the CM to the possibility of the CBI issuing a “Blue Corner Notice” against the Hassan MP, amid reports suggesting his departure from the country.
A Blue Corner Notice, issued by the international police cooperation body, serves to gather additional information from member countries regarding an individual’s identity, whereabouts, or involvement in criminal activities.
