Mumbai, Jan 30 (UNI) Former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar — a close aide of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray family — on Tuesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials following ED summons in ongoing investigation into an alleged scam related to the purchase of body bags by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) during COVID-19 pandemic.
Pednekar, accompanied by a lady advocate while entering ED office at Ballard Pier in south Mumbai, said that she is innocent and will cooperate with the investigators in the case.
She had previously appeared before ED in November of last year and had denied the charges levelled against her.
The Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai police has also registered an offence against Pednekar and others related to this scam.
The Bombay high court had earlier granted her anticipatory bail.
