Delhi electorate rises by 8.85 lakh voters: CEO Krishnamurthy

New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) The electorate of the National Capital has increased by approximately 8.85 lakh voters, with the gender ratio rising to 851 from 818 compared to the last general elections, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer P. Krishnamurthy said on Tuesday.

The number of third-gender voters has also seen a hike of 1228 from 669, nearly doubling from the last general election, Krishnamurthy said.

Addressing the media on poll preparedness here, Delhi CEO said, “The total number of electors in the national capital of Delhi for this election is 1,52,01,936 (over 1.52 crores) including more than 82.12 lakhs males, 69.87 lakhs females and 1,228 third gender voters.”

Among them, there are 2.52 lakh electors aged 18-19 years, 97,823 are of above 85 years electors, 77,480 Persons with Disabilities (PwD) electors, 650 overseas electors and 12,702 service electors, he said.

“There is a significant hike of 8,85,483 electors from the total electors in 2019 general elections that was around 1.44 crores and gender ratio of electors have also improved to 851 from 818,” Krishnamurthy further highlighted.

PwD Voters have also increased to 77,480 in comparison to 40,532 in 2019, he noted.

“The total number of main polling stations in the city is 13,637 and Auxiliary polling booths are four,” he underscored, adding that webcasting of the election will be done from 6,833 polling stations.

“For smooth conduct of the election, 46 companies of Central Armed Police Forces, 19,000 home guards and 78,578 (including 33,133 for Poll Day) Delhi Police Personnel have been deployed in the national capital,” the CEO said.
