- Chanderi Mahotsav begins
Bhopal: Chanderi city, famous for Chanderi Saris, will now create its own identity in the country and the world through Chanderi Mahotsav. The 5-day long Chanderi Mahotsav kick-started on Thursday. Chanderi ia a town of historical importance in Ashoknagar District of Madhya Pradesh.
The first edition of Chanderi Mahotsav is being organized by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board in collaboration with Sunset Desert Camp.
By organizing the festival, the rich culture of Chanderi will be popularized in the entire country and the world. Chanderi Mahotsav started with the musical performance of Indian Ideal fame and Bollywood singer Hemant Brijwasi.
The Chanderi Mahotsav will showcase folk art and cultural programs for five days, live music performances by renowned artistes, DJ nights and thrilling adventure activities.
Travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers and other stakeholders associated with the tourism sector from across the country also admired the beauty of the city and expressed their eagerness to organise the festival.

Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture and Managing Director Tourism Board Sheo Shekhar Shukla extended his best wishes for the event and said that Chanderi is famous in the country and the world for Chanderi Saris and hand looms, but with Chanderi Mahotsav, it will also emerge as a major tourist destination.
Employment will be created with the participation of the local community and the folk culture of Chanderi and Bundelkhand will also be promoted across the country.
With the inauguration of Chanderi Mahotsav, cultural programs, art exhibition, light and sound show, hot air balloon glow show, DJ night, live band and music concert, yoga and meditation, vintage car rally, Pranpur village tour, workshop on Bhil art will be held from Friday.
There will be activities like photography workshop, boating, storytelling session, Maha Aarti, adventure activities, rural and agri tourism workshop, monument visit, fashion show, Raja Rani Mahal, Kavi Sammelan, workshop on local cuisine.
Tent city will run for 3 months
The luxury tent city will operate for 3 months during the Chanderi Mahotsav. Visitors will get to taste local cuisine in the tent city. Various materials will be displayed in the art and craft stall to promote local art and culture. Along with this, there will be cultural activities for entertainment. There will also be exciting activities like ATV ride, jeep lining, reverse bungee.
