Viksit Bharat, Amrit Kaal newly coined words by govt: Sukendu Sekhar Ray

New Delhi Feb 5 (UNI) Terming Viksit Bharat and Amrit Kaal as newly coined words by the government, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) member Sukendu Sekhar Ray on Monday asked as to how many unemployed youth were given jobs during the last ten years.

Participating in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President Address in the Rajya Sabha, Sukendu Sekhar Ray attacked the Narendra Modi government for failing to provide two crore jobs every year.

Calling Amrit Kaal merely a Jumla, the Rajya Sabha member asked the government how many jobs have been given by the government.

He said that the draconian Nyaya Sanhita Bills that were passed during the Winter Session were not supported by all parties. The bills were passed after the suspension of 146 MPs, and therefore, the President’s statement that the bills had the approval of all parties is not true.

Referring to Niti Aayog’s report of lifting 25 crore people from poverty, the AITC member asked how many have been lifted out of poverty, what the exact numbers are, and how many are still below the poverty line.

He said the President’s address was filled with only lofty claims, and there was no truth.

Participating in the discussion, DMK leader Tiruchi Siva said that the NDA government was anti-poor, anti-federal, anti-regional, anti-secural, pro-rich, anti-women, and anti-farmer.

The DMK leader said that while Mahatma Gandhi envisaged a village India, Nehru built a modern India, Lal Bahadur Shastri had Kisan India, and Manmohan Singh had created a globalised India, but Narendra Modi is creating a defederalized India.

He alleged that despite the Tamil Nadu government asking for disaster funds as the state was badly affected by the cyclone, the government has yet to accord them.

Participating in the discussion, Sandeep Kumar Pathak of the Aam Aadmi Party said that without reforming the existing departments, the government introduces several other departments, ignoring the main ones.

Prashanta Nanda from Biju Janata Dal also spoke at the President’s address.
