US Army orders more than $870Mln in heavy artillery timing fuzes

Washington, Jan 6 (UNI) The US Army has ordered more than $871 million worth of additional electronic fuzes for use on its 105mm and 155mm heavy artillery howitzers, the Department of Defense announced in a press release.

“L3 Fuzing and Ordnance Systems [of] Cincinnati, Ohio was awarded an $871,583,197 …contract for M762A1/M767A1 electronic timing fuses,” the release stated on Friday.

Work on the contract is scheduled to take five years with each order, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 4, 2029, the Defense Department said.

The M762A1/M767A1 is a military unique artillery fuze used on all existing and future US Army howitzer 105mm and 155mm weapon systems, according to published reports.
