Universities should churn out great human beings: Governor

Bhopal: Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that the university should develop great human beings. The objective of the National Education Policy is to expand knowledge as well as to create great human beings. He anticipated that the universities should inculcate moral values, cultural traditions, values ??and qualities of practical life along with knowledge and science, in students in higher education.

Governor Patel was addressing the 101st meeting of the University Coordination Committee held at Sandipani Auditorium of Raj Bhavan. Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar was also present on this occasion.

Include human values ??in curriculum

Governor Patel said that inclusion of human values ??in university courses is essential. The ultimate objective of education is to create dedicated, sensitive and hardworking citizens. It is important to understand that mere knowledge, science and technological development is not holistic education. It is also important for students to be aware and active towards social concerns like social harmony, environmental consciousness and women empowerment. He said that it is the responsibility of the universities to educate students on the values ??of our glorious cultural traditions and heritage so that they can progress in their future life and stay connected to the roots of our culture.

Governor Patel said that students generally pursue studies for 4 to 5 years in universities. In this period, the university plays a very crucial role in developing the personality of a student. The university should inculcate in the students the qualities of working towards the welfare of deprived sections of the society, their participation in social concerns, spirit of service towards the society, nation and sensitivity.
Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar emphasized on the need to consider the proposal presented before the coordination committee regarding the conduct of employment-oriented courses in universities through a sub-committee.

Decision was taken in the meeting thateligible universities should apply for NAAC grading for the session 2024-25. The newly established university must compulsorily submit the application within one year of completion of the prescribed period of 6 years.
