Six people still unaccounted for after bridge collapsed in Baltimore

Washington, (UNI) At least six people remain unaccounted for after a major bridge collapsed in Baltimore following a ship collision, Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld said on Tuesday.

Early Tuesday, the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after being struck by a cargo ship. The Dali cargo ship was sailing under a Singaporean flag from Baltimore to the capital city of Sri Lanka, Colombo, at the time of collapse, according to media reports.

“A total of eight: one rescued and now in a hospital, one not in a hospital, but we have communicated with that person, and then six that we are searching for,” Wiedefeld told reporters when asked how many people were on the bridge when the collision happened.
