Sensex jumps 267.75 pts

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) Erasing Wednesday losses, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday surged 267.75 pts to close at 74,221.06 on the strength of Realty, FMCG, IT and Capital Goods stocks despite weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 68.75 pts at 22,597.80.

Declining 52 pts on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex rallied 212 pts to open at 74165.52. During the day it was advanced 354 pts at 74307.79, days high before closing at 74221.06, up 267.75 pts from it previous close.

Meanwhile, it was tumbled down 93 pts at 73860.33, days low.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,629.50 and 22,483.15 pts respectively.

The stocks that helped the market were Realty by 1.41 pc, FMCG by 1.26 pc, IT by 0.63 pc and Capital Goods by 9.58 pc.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.

The Mid Cap slipped by 0.05 pc while small Cap by rose by 0.18 pc.

The gainers were Hind Unilever by 2.33 pc to Rs 2364, Reliance Industries by 1.66 pc to Rs 2918.85, Infosys by 1.29 pc to Rs 1452.65, Asian Paints by 1.22 pc to Rs 2885 and Sun Pharma by 1.21 pc to to Rs 1559.80.

The losers were SBI by 1.39 pc to Rs 819, JSW Steel by 0.86 pc to Rs 915.80,Axis Bank by 0.76 pc to Rs 1128.90 and ICICI bank by 0.66 pc to Rs 1113.20.

Asian Market was seen weak as Hang Seng fell by 0.13 pc, Strait Times by 0.19 pc and Kospi by 0.03.
