Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates CoE on Panchakarma in Guwahati

Guwahati, Feb 24 (UNI) Union Minister of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday inaugurated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Panchakarma and the renovated state pharmacy at the Ayurvedic College and Hospital here.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be part of this illustrious college that has been imparting education on Ayurveda and producing countless experts on Ayurveda, reinforcing the patient care and medical sector of the state.

This has not only given a new lease of life to our age-old heritage, with proven efficacy in improving the quality of life for many generations, but also offered the Ayush system of medicine to be upgraded as per contemporary standards with empirical evidence, he added.

Government Ayurvedic College will play a belligerent role in the expansion of Ayurvedic education and medical system in the entire region in the ensuing days, the Minister said.

The market value of Ayush products in India was limited to just Rs 24,000 crore, but now the country’s Ayush products are gaining a market of Rs 4.50 lakh crore worldwide, he mentioned.

Assam Health & Family Welfare Minister, Keshab Mahanta, MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Atul Bora, and Siddhartha Bhattacharya among other dignitaries attended the meeting.
