Railway unable to take decision to reduce Vande Bharat train fare

  • Instructions to reduce fare by 25 percent, no decision yet
  • Schedule of Rakshabandhan special trains not released yet

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
The Ministry of Railways has given instructions to reduce the fare of Vande Bharat premium and special quota passenger trains by 25 percent. However, even after a month, West Central Railway has not been able to take a decision to reduce the fare.

Meanwhile, bumper waiting schedules for Rakshabandhan are once again being seen in passenger trains. Passengers will have to bear additional financial burden up to Rs 250 per ticket on a Rs 1000 ticket due to non-decision. Bhopal Railway Division has not even released the schedule of Rakshabandhan special trains yet, due to which the situation of no room has started being created in regular trains.

Decision should be taken soon – Nitesh Lal, a member of the Zonal Rail Passenger Advisory Committee, has demanded the West Central Railway management to take an early decision on fare reduction in this matter. The committee has demanded that the interests of passengers should not be neglected for the sake of earning revenue. Rahul Srivastava, CPRO says that the proposal to reduce fare in premium trains including Vande Bharat is under consideration.
