West Central Railway had already started extensive preparations for continuous safe train operations during the summer season.
Due to the efficient guidance of West Central Railway General Manager Shobhana Bandopadhyay and monitoring of officers of all three divisions, uninterrupted operation of trains is becoming possible in the scorching heat. It is noteworthy that West Central Railway is committed to safety and security. The campaigns for safety and security by WCR will continue in the future also. It is to inform that the temperature of long welded rail tracks increases significantly during summer. From the safety point of view, patrolling is ensured by Hot Weather Patrolmen on all the routes of WCR. Special monitoring is being maintained on all the girder bridges and sharp curves under West Central Railway. The work of de-stressing the track is being executed on priority basis as per the activities and behavior of the track on all the routes and sections of West Central Railway. Ballast has been supplied promptly to the places where there is shortage of ballast, and at the required locations, the work of sifting of ballast is being done through ballast cleaning machine.
Supervisor inspecting
The track is being continuously inspected by field officers and supervisors. By organizing safety seminars, workshops etc. from time to time and conducting continuous knowledge tests of all the staff involved in the maintenance work in the respective summer sections of the Engineering, TRD and Signal Department, precautions to be taken in the maintenance work during summer days are being updated.
