Gold being smuggled from a passenger coming from Sharjah was recovered at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport. The Customs department has taken action against Mohammad Arif Gama Sheikh, a passenger who landed from Sharjah by Air India flight number IX 256. The passenger is a resident of Mumbai. According to Customs officials, he had brought gold hidden inside a mobile charger. Customs officials stopped the passenger on the basis of confidential information and suspicion. One laptop and two iPhones were also recovered from him.
He had hidden the gold inside his mobile charger and Airpods. To protect the gold from the eyes of the officials, rhodium polish was applied on it.
Airpods were on
This changed the color of the gold to look like nickel. The special thing is that the Airpods in which the gold was hidden were in working condition. Due to this, the Customs suspect that the passenger is associated with a trained and organized gang involved in smuggling. Currently, the Customs Department has seized 80.29 grams of gold along with electronic equipment and has registered a case against the passenger and started investigation.
