Now, cervical cancer will be tested soon

Liquid Best Cytology (LBC) Pap test service for the detection of cervical cancer was launched by the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal on Thursday, 25 April.

Inaugurating this facility, AIIMS Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh said that the opening of this facility will greatly help in screening cervical cancer among women in Central India and this disease can be detected in the early stages. He said that cervical cancer is one of the biggest problems in the country today. Cervical cancer diagnosis through Liquid Best Cytology (LBC) technique takes less time and its accuracy is also higher. Dr. Vaishali Walke, Head of the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine, said that with the introduction of the facility of this machine, cases of cervical cancer will now be identified early and their treatment will be ensured. Till now cervical cancer is diagnosed through traditional Pap tests.

Maintain cleanliness, avoid malaria

On the occasion of Malaria Day, the Department of Community and Family Medicine of AIIMS Bhopal organized a painting and poster competition for the students of St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School and Seven Hills Public School, Sai Baba Nagar. AIIMS Director Dr. Singh believes that if we maintain cleanliness around our house, do not allow filth to occur, mosquitoes will not breed, then how will malaria occur. Therefore, we should maintain cleanliness around our house. He said that if anyone gets fever then get it checked immediately and do not be negligent in treatment. The program was organized in collaboration with the District Malaria Office, Bhopal. AIIMS trainees and nursing students gave health related information through posters and flash card visuals. The winners of painting and poster making competitions were awarded. Head of CFS department, Dr Arun M Kokane also advised the students to pay attention to cleanliness.
