National Sports Day: Balgram kids rub shoulders with renowned athletes at SAI STC Centre

Jammu, Aug 29 (UNI) The children of the Balgram (SOS Home) on Thursday got an opportunity to rub shoulders with renowned athletes in various disciplines to mark National Sports Day celebrations here at the Sports Training Centre (STC) of Sports Authority of India (SAI).

“To give a message of inclusiveness in Sports, SAI STC Jammu included children of Balgram in the celebration of the National Sports Day,” Aman Sharma, High Performance Director (HPD) and In-charge SAI STC Jammu said.

He congratulated the sports fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir and paid tributes to Major Dhyan Chand, the Legendary Hockey Player, and also underlined the need to work untiringly to bring sporting glory to the country.

At least 20 children of ‘Balgram’ were invited to the STC located at Maulana Azad Stadium where they were introduced to the National and International level players of the SAI STC.

Sharma informed that matches were organized in Volleyball, Basketball, and Badminton disciplines, allowing Balgram children to rub shoulders with renowned players.

Retired coaches of the SAI, officers, and coaches of the J&K Sports Council, and staff of SAI STC Jammu participated in the celebration with zeal and enthusiasm.

Shashikant Goswami (Retd.), Senior Scientific Officer of SAl was the special invitee on the occasion.

He thanked and lauded the SAI STC Jammu for including BALGRAM children in the National Sports Day celebrations.
