MP Power Generating Company’s first solar power plant inaugurated

Bhopal: Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar on Saturday inaugurated seven MW solar power plants of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company located at Rataguradia in Mandsaur district through video conferencing. The construction of these plants cost about Rs 42 crore and it is estimated that about 1.25 crore units of electricity will be produced every year.

Energy Minister Tomar said that the power generating company will also increase the production of electricity by doing better work in the field of renewable energy.

Retaguardia Solar Power Plant is the first solar plant of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company was producing electricity only from coal and water based power plants. Keeping in view the need of the hour, efforts are also being made to install other solar plants on the vacant land of the currently operational thermal power plants of the company.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Energy Manu Srivastava, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Sunil Tiwari, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Shri Manjit Singh and senior engineers of all power houses, State Water Resources Department and Madhya Pradesh Western Region Power Distribution Company were present. Engineers participated in the inauguration program through video conferencing.
