Support price procurement, which started from March 20, has become a headache for the farmers this time. Earlier, farmers somehow stood in queues for two days to get their produce weighed at purchase centres. Now, after weighing, farmers are forced to make rounds of banks and societies for payment. It has been 10 to 15 years since the farmers got it done, but they have still not received the money for their produce.

Wheat and other produce are being purchased at support price in the district since March 20. This time, 231 procurement centers have been set up by the administration to purchase produce from farmers. More than 1 lakh 31 thousand tonnes of wheat has been purchased from farmers in the last 16 days at these procurement centres. The procurement process is going on continuously. Farmers also sold their produce in large quantities in the procurement that started in the last week of March. The effect of eight to ten days of holidays in the mandis and closure of the mandis due to other reasons was also visible in the increase in purchases. Now after the purchase, farmers need money for preparations for the next crop including festivals, marriage programs.
