Memorial for Acharya Vidyasagar to be built in Bhopal, announces CM Mohan Yadav

  • Call to name Metro Station after the revered Jain Saint

Bhopal – In a historic first, the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly witnessed the commemoration of a Jain saint’s Smriti Diwas (Memorial Day). On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the construction of a memorial for Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj in Bhopal.

As a mark of deep reverence, CM Yadav performed the “Paad Prakshalan” (ritual washing of feet) of Muni Praman Sagar Ji Maharaj, who was present on the stage.

Grand procession & book launch

A Shobha Yatra (grand procession) was carried out from the Digambar Jain Temple, passing through Roshanpura Square, Malviya Nagar, and Birla Mandir, before culminating at the Legislative Assembly. During the event, 25 books based on the life and teachings of Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj were unveiled.

Demand to rename Metro & Railway Station

The Jain community’s leadership urged the government to rename Rani Kamlapati Railway Station and the upcoming Metro Station after Acharya Vidyasagar in his honor.

The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including MP Alok Sharma, former CM Digvijay Singh, and former minister PC Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Yadav emphasized the selfless service and spiritual aura of Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, stating that he transcended into a divine entity even during his lifetime due to his unwavering dedication to humanity.

Highlighting the significance of cows in Indian culture, he remarked, “Gomata (Mother Cow) has the power to transform the entire ecosystem. She nurtures not just her own offspring but also plays a role in the well-being of human children.”

A sacred space in Bhopal for remembrance

CM Yadav assured the gathering that a dedicated space would be established in Bhopal to honor Acharya Vidyasagar’s legacy. Recalling the revered saint’s visit to the Legislative Assembly, he said, “It felt like a divine presence had descended among us.”

Although Acharya Vidyasagar hailed from Karnataka, the CM affirmed, “It always seemed like he belonged to Madhya Pradesh, to our very own land and people.”

This announcement marks a significant tribute to one of the most revered Jain saints, ensuring his spiritual legacy continues to inspire future generations.
