Kuwait City, April 15 (UNI) A Kuwaiti Emiri decree was issued on Monday appointing Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as the prime minister of Kuwait and authorizing him to nominate new cabinet members, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The appointment follows the acceptance by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on April 7. Sheikh Mohammad submitted his cabinet’s resignation on April 6, following the election of a new parliament on April 4.
The new prime minister, born in 1952, served as the head of the Diwan of the Crown Prince from September 2021 until his latest appointment. He was minister of finance and communications from 1999 to 2005, before serving as minister of health, minister of oil and minister of information from 2006 to 2011.
