Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah inaugurates international chess tourney

Bengaluru, Jan 18 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the first-ever international grandmasters open chess tournament in the august presence of chess legend Vishwanathan Anand here on Thursday.

The grand event is witnessing the participation of 1,500 players from India and 20 other countries, including more than 40 Grandmasters, marking a celebration of global chess prowess.

“This event will promote intellectual sportsmanship and foster a sense of community among chess enthusiasts,” Siddaramaiah said.

“The game of chase has the power to transcend borders and bring people together,” Anand said.
