Kannauj (UP), May 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav and said that the Samajwadi Party chief’s decision to contest from Kannauj stemmed from the INDI alliance’s inability to secure a candidate for the constituency.
Addressing an election rally held at Karia Jhala ground, Jhinjhak, Rasoolabad, the CM said, “When Akhilesh had the chance, he worked to spoil the essence of Kannauj’s perfume.
“They initially fielded one candidate, only to revoke his ticket later. Subsequently, another candidate was announced, who eventually withdrew from the race. When a third candidate was proposed, they declined. With no viable option left, the SP president now claims he’s eager to serve.”
Continuing his criticism of Akhilesh Yadav, he said, “During his tenure, UP witnessed frequent outbreaks of violence. The safety of women and business owners was compromised, while the rights of the underprivileged were trampled upon.
“The former CM even glorified rioters by inviting them to his residence. However, now you can witness how the new UP of the new India handles rioters and those who disrupt peace.”
Yogi urged the public to reelect Subrata Pathak, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Kannauj. He called upon ordinary citizens to canvas from door to door, expressing their preference for Rambhakts (devotees of Lord Ram) over Ramdrohis (those opposed to Lord Ram).
He asserted that in the new India, there exists security, welfare for the impoverished, development and reverence for heritage and faith. He contrasted the SP’s actions of firing upon Ram devotees and withdrawing cases against terrorists with the BJP’s accomplishment of constructing the Ram temple.
The CM attributed the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, after a hiatus of 500 years, to the collective effort of the electorate who chose the BJP governments in both Delhi and Lucknow.
He said, “After this gap, Lord Ram celebrated Holi at his birthplace, observed his birth anniversary, and adorned his forehead with a Surya Tilak. The world was fortunate to witness a rejuvenated Ayodhya. We witnessed the realisation of our ancestors’ dreams and resolve unfolding right in front of us.”
