Jordan to hold parliamentary election on Sept.10

Amman, (UNI) Jordan’s Independent Election Commission said on Wednesday that the parliamentary election will be held on Sept. 10.

The commission said the timetable for all stages of the electoral process will be announced early next week, the state-run Al Mamlak TV reported.

Early in the day, King Abdullah II of Jordan ordered the holding of parliamentary elections in accordance with the provisions of the election law.

The King also visited the Independent Election Commission to review its preparations for the electoral process.

According to the commission, there are more than 5 million eligible voters, while 1,600 polling stations have been designated and 19 chief electoral committees selected.
