J&K: Mehbooba escapes injury in road accident in Anantnag, 2 injured

Srinagar, Jan 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, escaped unhurt on Thursday when her vehicle met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

However, her personnel security officer and a driver were injured in the accident that took place at Sangam Anantnag along the Srinagar Jammu national highway, officials said.

The vehicle of Mehbooba collided with a civilian car when she was on her way to Anantnag to meet fire victims.

“Two people, including her PSO, were injured in the accident,” they said.

“I am thankful to everyone for their prayers and the outpouring of concern about my well-being. I am fine, alhamdullilah. My driver and PSO have suffered injuries, and I hope they recover soon,” Mehbooba said in a post on X.

After the accident, Mehbooba met the fire victims in Anantnag. After her Anantnag program, she was examined at a hospital in Srinagar.

National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah sought an inquiry into the circumstances of the accident.

“Glad to hear that @MehboobaMufti Sahiba escaped injury in what could have been a very serious incident. I expect the government to enquire into the circumstances of the accident. Any gaps in her security that contributed to this accident must be addressed immediately,” Omar posted on X.
