IPS officer Sadanand Vasant appointed as NIA DG

New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) Senior IPS officer Sadanand Vasant Date has been appointed as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency NIA on Wednesday.

The 1990-batch Indian Police Service officer is currently serving as Chief of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

In a statement, the Ministry of Personnel said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Vasant Date for a tenure up to his superannuation on December 31, 2026.

The ACC also approved the appointment of 1990 batch Rajasthan Cadre IPS Rajeev Kumar Sharma as Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).

Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS officer Piyush Anand has been appointed as Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

He is presently working as the Special DG of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
