Chhattisgarh: Six Naxals killed in encounter

Jagdalpur, Mar 27 (UNI) Six Naxals were killed in a clash with the police, including four men and two women, on Wednesday morning in Bastar, Chhattisgarh.

They recovered a large quantity of explosives from the scene, police said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Bastar Range, Kamalochan Kashyap, said that since the recent killing of three villagers in the Basaguda area, the police have been conducting continuous searches in these areas.

Based on information, ‘ A joint team of Central Reserve Police Force, Cobra, and District Reserve Police personnel left the Basaguda area on Wednesday. There was a clash with Naxal platoon number 10 for about an hour and a half, in which six Naxals were killed. One of the deceased Naxals was a commander.’

Kashyap said that six guns, a large quantity of explosives, and wireless sets were recovered from the scene.

He mentioned that the clash occurred near the Talperu River in the Chikurabhatti area of Basaguda.

The operation in the area is ongoing.
