Intermittent showers continue in city, water logging in low lying areas

Heavy rainfall at many places in state

Bhopal: Bhopal continues to receive intermittent moderate to heavy showers in the last 3-4 days leading to waterlogging in low-lying localities.

Due to active monsoon system, it is raining heavily at some places and light rainfall is occurring at other places in Madhya Pradesh. It rained in many districts of the state on Saturday, while moderate to heavy rain is expected in 17 districts including Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Shahdol, Shivpuri on Sunday. It may also rain in Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior.

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be moderate to heavy falls in Bhopal, Shajapur, Dewas, Harda, Betul, Narmadapuram, Vidisha, Guna, Shivpuri, Morena, Datia, Bhind, Tikamgarh, Satna, Rewa, Shahdol and Anuppur. 2 to 4 inches of water may fall here in the next 24 hours.

Heavy rain in Gwalior-Chambal

Senior meteorologist Dr. Vedprakash Singh said that due to active cyclonic circulation in the state, there was heavy rain in Nimar and North Madhya Pradesh along with Gwalior-Chambal on Saturday-Saturday. Orange alert remained in many districts. Now the system has become a little weak. Despite this, moderate to heavy rain is expected in many districts including Bhopal on Sunday also. Monsoon system will be active once again from 12-13 September. Due to this, the rainy season will continue till 18-20 September. India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhopal on Sunday has issued alert of heavy rainfall in West Madhya Pradesh as a result of a cyclonic circulation over central MP.

IMD Meteorologist SN Sahu said, “According to the data received in the last 24 hours, Jabalpur has received 91 mm, Satna has received 68 mm, Chhindwara 36mm, Bhopal city 41 mm, Bhopal Bairagarh 24 mm and Indore 87 mm of rainfall. A cyclonic circulation is active over central MP which can cause heavy rainfall in West Madhya Pradesh.” After MP witnessed the driest August since 1901, the IMD said that the monsoon is expected to be normal across the country during September.

70 goats died due to lightning

70 goats died due to lightning in Isagarh, Ashoknagar. On Saturday, shepherd Kalyan Singh brought the goats home after grazing, put them inside the house and closed the door from outside and went away. Lightning fell in the night. When I went to take out the goats on Sunday morning, I saw that all the goats were lying dead. All these goats belonged to Ranjit Khatik.

5 cm rainfall in Bhopal

It rained in 21 districts of the state on Saturday. Till 8 am on Sunday morning, maximum 10 cm of rainfall occurred in Narmadapuram. Bhopal city has recorded 5 cm of rain, Chhindwara has recorded more than two and a half inches of rain. Damoh-Betul received more than one and a half inches of rain. Similarly, Sagar, Ratlam, Umaria, Pachmarhi, Sidhi, Ujjain, Guna, Seoni, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Bhopal, Indore, Dhar, Malajkhand, Mandla and Sagar also received slow and heavy rains at some places.
