New Delhi, (UNI) Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech, industry bodies CII and Assocham on Tuesday said they are confident of India becoming the third largest economy in the world in the coming five years.
“With the building blocks of sustaining high growth in place, CII is confident that the Prime Minister’s vision of seeing India emerge as the third largest global economy will be easily fructified in the next five years,” said Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII.
Banerjee said that the Prime Minister’s speech comprehensively outlined the notable achievements of the government in the last decade or so, which have laid the blueprint for India becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
“Despite the global challenges which have clouded the horizon, India’s emergence as the vanguard of the new world order has been founded on the strength of its demographic dividend, unequivocal focus on the credo of ‘reform, perform & transform’, and rapid progress seen in all sectors of the economy,” he said.
Banerjee further said that the achievements and vision delineated by the Prime Minister in his speech have indeed set the perfect backdrop for lending strength and fortitude to India’s ascent as the leading global superpower in the Amrit Kaal period.
Assocham Secretary General Deepak Sood said that Modi’s address would further the national resolve to become a developed country by 2047 while the country is marching fast to be amongst the third largest economy of the world.
‘India has surely seized the initiative to lead the world in several transformational areas like clean energy, global peace and prosperity with equity,’ Sood said, terming the PM’s speech as inspirational.
He further said that the focus on wider development and usage of innovation and technology for the people of the country is visible in several initiatives of the government.
