Vijayawada, Sep 10 (UNI) The incessant rains and floods have so far killed 46 people, and damaged crops in 1,96,100 hectares in Andhra Pradesh.
An official release here on Tuesday revealed that so far 46 people had lost their lives due to heavy rains and floods. As many as 36 people were killed in NTR district, seven people in the Guntur district, two persons in the Eluru district, and one person in the Palnadu district.
Agriculture crops were damaged in 1,96,100 hectares affecting 2,40,272 farmers. Horticulture crops were damaged in 19,686 hectares affecting 30,877 farmers.
Roads to a length of 4,202.68 km were damaged due to heavy floods and 70 breaches were developed to the roads. Due to incessant rains in Vijayawada 339 trains were cancelled, 181 diverted and 12 partially cancelled.
The heavy rains and floods affected 6,44,133 people in the state and 246 relief camps were set up for them. The total animal loss was 540 (Big animal135 and Small animal 405) while 7,607 poultry birds perished.
