Immediately arrest minor’s kidnapper-rapists: SGPC chief to UP govt

Amritsar, June 2 (UNI) Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has urged the Uttar Pradesh government of Yogi Adityanath to immediately arrest all accused involved in the kidnapping and rape of minor daughter of Granthi Singh in Pilibhit district.

He said that the Sikh organisation fully supports the one-week ultimatum given by Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh on Friday, to the government of Uttar Pradesh to arrest all the accused persons and if need be to take a strong decision according to the sentiments of the Sikh Sangat.

He told the UP Government not to force the Sikh community to take a tough decision and immediately act against the culprits.

Dhami demanded that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should himself ensure the arrest of all the accused persons involved in the heinous crime so that the victim’s family can get justice.

He said that due to this incident in Uttar Pradesh, there is a lot of resentment in the Sikh community across the globe.

Reminding Adityanath of his commitment to protect daughters and sisters, he said that UP government should give exemplary punishment to the culprits in the Pilibhit case.

The SGPC chief accused Pilibhit district Superintendent of Police of not cooperating in the matter, as per his Sangat’s information.

He asked the UP government to take action against the guilty police officers who have performed negligently in the case.

The SGPC also said that an overall report after meeting the victim family has been shared with the Sri Akal Takht Sahib for further action.
