Floods in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro kill at least 11 people

Rio de Janeiro, Jan 15 (UNI) At least 11 people have died in flooding caused by heavy rains in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian media reported on Monday.

Floods hit the northern part of the city from Saturday to Sunday, the G1 news portal reported, adding that the disaster also affected the operation of buses and subway, with the authorities canceling all planned events.

The city administration declared a state of emergency in the city, the report said.
