- Imposes fine for billing machine found faulty at the stall
Bhopal: Divisional Railway Manager Devashish Tripathi conducted a surprise inspection of Bhopal Railway Station on Friday, 7 June 2024. The main objective of this inspection was to take stock of the progress of safety related works.
During the inspection of Bhopal yard, the Divisional Railway Manager took stock of the condition of railway tracks, points & crossings, signaling systems and safety measures for protected and safe train operations. He said that regular checking of track and signaling is necessary to ensure safe and smooth rail travel. After the inspection, the Divisional Railway Manager instructed the concerned officials to do all the work keeping safety in mind. After this, after reaching the coaching depot, he inspected the maintenance work of the coaches inside the depot. He met the railway personnel working in the depot and appreciated the maintenance work being done by them.
During the inspection, the Divisional Railway Manager conducted a thorough inspection of the passenger facilities, catering units, passenger waiting rooms, platforms and circulating areas available at Bhopal Railway Station. He expressed his displeasure over the fact that one stall on the platform had a faulty billing machine and another stall had no billing machine, and ordered a fine to be imposed on the concerned licensee. He said that the Railways is committed to improving passenger facilities and the welfare of the employees.
The Divisional Railway Manager inspected the integrated driver and guard crew lobby, where he interacted directly with the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, railway personnel related to train operations, train manager and safety related railway personnel. He thoroughly examined the safety register and yard layouts and held a special discussion on the subject of safety related work system in the lobby and gathered information. He took stock of the facilities available for the employees and inquired about the works related to train operations, safety and security rules.
Moving forward, he inspected the RRI (Route Relay Interlocking), which is a signaling system in the Railways that ensures safe train operations on complex track layouts. While inspecting the RRI, he checked the functionality of signals and points, relay systems, control panels, maintenance records, safety protocols, communication systems and backup systems to ensure smooth and safe train operations. The objective of this inspection is to maintain operational reliability and ensure adherence to safety standards.
During the inspection, the Divisional Railway Manager was accompanied by Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) Rituraj Sharma, Senior Divisional Engineer (Central) Mahendra Singh, Senior Divisional Safety Officer Ravindra Sharma, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Coaching) R.P. Khare, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Traction Operations) Sanjay Tiwari, Senior Divisional Signal & Telecommunication Engineer (Signal) Rao Abhishek, Divisional Operations Manager Shashank Gupta, Divisional Engineer (Headquarters) Shyam Nagar and other officers and supervisory staff.
