Kolkata, Dec 20 (UNI) The Calcutta High Court on Friday allowed conditional permission to the West Bengal Joint Platform of Doctors to organise a sit-in demonstration at Dorina Crossings in the city hub Esplanade .
The senior medics are seeking justice for RG Kar’s alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old woman medical post graduate student, whse body was found in the hospital on August 9.
The court directed the Joint Forum of Doctors to hold the protests some 50 foot away from Dorina Crossings so that traffic was not disturbed on the busy road.
The medics moved court after Kolkata Police denied permission for the protest demonstration.
The medics are seeking to renew the protest after the Sealdah court granted bail to former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh and Tala Police station’s ex- Office-in-Charge Abhijit Mondal as the CBI failed to file a charge sheet against them within 90 days.
The single-judge bench of Justice Tirthanka Ghosh granted permission to the doctors forum to host a protest from december 20-26 at Dorina Crossing.
