Mumbai, April 10 (UNI) Both stock market and Gold rallied to their high during the day, while the BSE Sensex on Wednesday ended firm, breaching 75K level to 75038.15, up 354.45 points, the gold also continued its shine and ended at Rs 74000 for 10 grams in 24-carat category.
Even as the FIIs were net sellers yesterday with Rs 593.20 crore in the cash segment but the domestic institutional investors pumped in Rs 2257.18 crore for buying securities, the market witnessed huge interest in the election season.
Oil and Gas, Metal and Energy stocks were in demand amid mixed Asian Market.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rallied 111.05 pts at 22,753.80.
On the white metal run to its high, traders are saying that it is partly due to heavy buying by the Central banks. In fact some countries are now resorting put restrictions on the gold lots to check speculative price rise.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22775.70 and 22673.70 pts respectively.
The Sensex opened at 74953.96, rising 113 pts. It was spurted 422 pts at 75105.14 days high before closing at 75038.15 up 354.45 pts from its last close.
The stocks that shined were Oil and Gas by 1.74 pc, Energy by 1.71 pc, Metal by 1.66 pc and FMCG by 1.19 pc.
The Mid cap rose 0.89 pc and Small Cap by 0.46 pc. In 30 scrips, 21 advanced, while 9 declined.
The gainers were ITC by 2.49 pc to Rs 436.90, Kotak bank by 2.15 pc to Rs 1820.60, Bharti Airtel by 2.10 pc to Rs 1229.10, SBI by 1.94 pc to Rs 779 and Tech Mahindra by 1.35 pc to Rs 1287.95.
The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.60 pc to Rs 12684.25, HDFC bank by 0.83 pc to Rs 1535.80, L& T by 3756.90 and M& M by 0.62 pc to Rs 2077.80.
