Bhopal : One-day awareness program on New Criminal Laws took place for engineering students at MANIT Bhopal on Saturday. As we know, the Parliament of India has enacted 3 new criminal laws namely Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, which will replace the colonial Indian Penal Code 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act 1872 respectively. To create awareness and disseminate this significant information among the students and staff of the institute, one day awareness program was organised on 19 April 2024 at Chemical Engineering Auditorium, MANIT Bhopal. The program was organised by Dr Meena Agarwal, Assoc. Prof. Energy Centre and Dr Bharat Modhera, Assoc. Prof. Chemical Engg, through the EBSB-Ek Bharat shreshth Bharat and NSS unit. Among the esteemed invited expert speakers were Dr. Mona Purohit, HoD and Dean, Department of Legal Studies & Research, Barkatullah University and Dr Amit Pratap Singh, Chairperson, Centre of Parliamentary Studies, National Law Institute University, Bhopal. Student Activity incharge Prof. Ravi Dwivedi also spoke on the occasion. About 250 engineering students had participated in the event and got to see the glimpses of a significant transformation of our country’s judicial system based on Indian thinking.
