Asiad: Indian men’s quadruple sculls team wins bronze

Hangzhou, (UNI) India bagged its second rowing bronze medal of the day as the men’s quadruple sculls team clocked 6:08.61 to finish third at the Asian Games 2023.

Rowers Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan and Sukhmeet Singh finished 5.96 seconds behind gold medallists China.

The Indian team were fourth after the first 500m, however, they took the third spot by the 1000m mark.

On the other hand, India’s women’s eight team finished fifth in the final A event, clocking 7:05.71. They were 32.10 seconds off the lead and failed to challenge the podium spots, Olympics.com reported.

Earlier, Indian rowers Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar and Ashish claimed the bronze medal in the men’s four final A. They finished with a time of 6:10.81, clocking 5.85 seconds behind the gold-winning Uzbekistan team.

While the Indian team was fourth after 1000m, they raced past the Japanese team to take the final podium spot, finishing only 0.77 seconds behind silver medallists China.
