Srinagar, Jan 14 (UNI) Minimum temperature witnessed a fall in Kashmir valley after settling above normal the previous night.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said that the minimum temperature recorded at Srinagar was minus 4.2°C last night, which was below 2.1°C against the normal of -2.1°C.
Srinagar witnessed a record 15.0°C maximum temperature on the previous day, which was 8.6°C above the normal of 6.4°C since 2003 during this period of the season.
Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of -4.0°C, which was -1.0°C below normal of -3.0°C on Sunday, while Kokernag recorded a low of -2.2°C against the -1.2°C, which was 1.4°C above normal for the famous picnic spot of south Kashmir.
Pahalgam recorded a low of -5.5°C against the -0.6°C recorded the previous night. It was 1.6°C above normal for the tourist spot in south Kashmir.
Gulmarg settled at -1.2°C against the -1.0°C recorded on the previous night. It was 6.7°C above normal for the famous ski resort of North Kashmir.
Kupwara recorded a low of -4.0°C against the -0.3°C recorded the previous day. It was 1.1°C below normal for the frontier Kashmir district during this period of the season, the MeT office said.
Dry weather is likely to continue till January 23, with feeble Western disturbances (WDs) approaching during January 16–20 evening, the MeT office said, adding that under the influence of these WDs, weather will generally remain cloudy with light snow over isolated higher reaches during the period.
