New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday demanded the resignation of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, stating that he is responsible for maintaining law and order in the capital but has utterly failed in his duty as crimes continue to be committed with impunity.
Addressing the media, Senior AAP leader and party’s chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar mentioned several crimes incidents happened in the national capital in the recent past and said, “Ever since LG VK Saxena has taken over the responsibility of law and order in Delhi, the law and order situation in Delhi has gone from bad to worse.”
Kakkar cited statistics from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), claiming, “In Delhi, 1,832 crimes occur per 1 lakh population, yet only 30% of these cases result in chargesheets.”
She further criticized the BJP’s rule, alleging, “Wherever law and order are under BJP’s control, the situation has worsened, as seen in Manipur, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and now Delhi, where the LG appointed by the central government is in charge.”
Questioning the competence of the LG, the Senior AAP leader asked, “What steps has the LG taken regarding police reforms? How many PCR vans has he added? What has he done to fill the vacancies in the police force? How often has he met with the Police Commissioner?
The NCRB figures clearly show that Vinay Saxena has been the most incompetent LG of Delhi.”
“He cannot handle the law and order and is busy in snatching the powers of Delhi government. Whenever there is any work of Delhi government, he quickly comes to click photos,” Kakkar alleged.
“He is spending money on social media. Should he not give information on social media about how the law and order situation is getting worse under him and what steps he has taken. Such an incompetent LG has no right to remain on his post and he should resign,” the AAP chief spokesperson said.
