17 rapes per day in MP: Priyanka alleges

Mohankheda (MP), Oct 5 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged on Thursday that on an average 17 rapes are committed in Madhya Pradesh daily.

Addressing a Jan Aakrosh rally at this Jain pilgrimage destination of the election-bound state, the visiting leader said, “The maximum number of girls and women are reported missing in Madhya Pradesh. Your daughters are not safe even today.”

On the issue of women’s reservation, she pointed out that the legislation will not be implemented for the next decade as a census and denotification are to be completed first.

“Do they consider women a joke? Will we blindly vote in favour of the BJP? Our rights are enshrined in the Constitution and nobody is doing a favour on us,” she thundered.

Priyanka reiterated that after assuming the state’s reins, the Congress will provide 100 units of free power per consumer per month; cooking gas cylinders at Rs 500 each; Rs 1,500 in every woman’s account per month and up to 5 hp free of charge for irrigation.
