Western Railways is deceiving passengers of Sehore

  • Sehore beating big stations in terms of revenue, situation is worse than rural stations in terms of stoppages

Chronicle Reporter, Sehore
We are not saying that the Ratlam division of Western Railways is giving step-motherly treatment to Sehore, the last station of its division; the testimony of this step-motherly treatment is being exposed from the revenue seat received from Ratlam division. Despite giving revenue equal to the big stations of the division, Western Railways is treating Sehore station worse than the stations of Ratlam Mandal Tehsil. Despite being at fourth and fifth position among the two dozen stations of the division in earnings, Sehore is not being provided the facilities and trains that the city deserves.

If we consider the station bar revenue seat of Ratlam division, the railway station of Sehore seems to be overshadowing the big stations like Dewas, Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, Mhow in terms of revenue. In terms of unreserved tickets, Sehore is far ahead of many stations like Dewas, Mhow, Shujalpur, Maksi, Kalapipal, according to the revenue year 2023-24, while Ratlam division got a revenue of more than Rs 7 crore 26 lakh from unreserved tickets from Sehore. Only Indore, Ujjain and Nagda stations were ahead of this, Sehore stood fourth in this list. 12 stations of the division lagged behind Sehore. Here Sehore is not far behind in terms of sale of reserved tickets, in this list also Sehore gave a revenue of Rs 7 crore 33 lakh, only Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Mhow stations are ahead of Sehore. Despite giving so much revenue, there is a step-motherly treatment with Sehore station, stoppages of dozens of express trains have been given to the less revenue giving stations of the neighboring tehsil instead of being given at this station. In the last one month, stoppages for summer station trains started by Ratlam Division have been given at Shujalpur and Kalapipal, but not a single train is being stopped at Sehore station. Not only this, the stoppages of the stations which were closed during the Corona period have also not been started again, due to which the passengers are facing a lot of trouble. Here, the aware people of the city have been agitating for the past several years at the station demanding passenger and express trains, many times during the inspection of RM, DRM, the people here have discussed with them regarding train stoppage, but only in response, apart from the assurance, the residents of the city have not been able to get anything special, whereas the people here are giving revenue to the Railways by taking tickets with full honesty.

More than 40 thousand passengers come every day

According to railway sources, 35 to 40 thousand passengers travel every day from the district headquarters station. In the last few years, the number of passengers coming to Sehore has increased rapidly, much of the credit for this goes to the internationally renowned storyteller Pt. Pradeep Mishra’s Kubeshwar Dham Ashram. Travelers from all over the country are reaching Sehore to visit Kubreshwar Dham, these travelers have to face a lot of difficulties in reaching their destination from Sehore, due to the absence of trains at Sehore station. Devotees have to go to Bhopal or Shujalpur in private vehicles and catch a train.
