War not our creation; hopeful of finding amicable solution to geo-political issues: Kant

New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) Noting that war has huge implications on economics, India’s Sherpa to G20 Amitabh Kant on Friday said that India is hopeful of convincing everyone to find an amicable solution to geo-political issues (Russia-Ukraine conflict).

“G20 is an economic body, it’s body for growth. The political body is United Nations. But issues of war lead to challenges on food, fuel and fertilizer and therefore there is huge implications in terms of economics. The war is not our creation. Our challenge is to put developmental issues right in the forefront. The world’s challenge is to handle developmental issues. On the issues of war, last year in Bali fell back on the United Nations’ resolution and we are quite hopeful that we will convince everybody to find an amicable solution to geopolitical issues,” Kant said responding to a question on how G20 can help end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Kant was speaking at the B20 India summit being held in the national capital.

In his address earlier at the session on “Aligning Global Priorities’ the India’s Sherpa to G20 said the recommendations of the B20 will find a place in the G20 Leaders’ Declaration. The G20 Leaders’ Summit is all set to be held on September 9-10.

Kant noted that India is hosting the G20 presidency at a time when the world is facing multiple challenges including recession in many countries and debt crisis in many other nations.

He stressed that India has made its G20 Presidency into a people’s Presidency and is committed to keep the agenda inclusive, action-oriented and ambitious.
