UP: Two killed, 10 injured as building collapses in Barabanki

Barabanki (UP), Sep 4 (UNI) Two people were killed and 10 others were injured when a multi-story building collapsed in the Fatehpur area of Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police sources said.

Police sources said that the incident took place in the wee hours when the three-story house of Hashim collapsed in Kazipur Ward 2.

“Around 12 people were sleeping inside and outside the house at the time of the incident,” they said.

Police sources said that the police, along with the SDRF team, reached the spot and launched a rescue operation along with the local residents.

“12 people were pulled out of the debris and were taken to the district hospital, where Hashim’s daughter Roshni (22) and Hakeemuddin (25) succumbed to injuries,” they said.

Police sources said that Shakeela (55), Jainab (10), Mahak (12), Sameer (18), Salman (25), Sultan (28), Jafrul Hasan (35) and Kulsum (60) sustained serious injuries. “Those having serious injuries have been referred to the trauma centre at Lucknow,” they said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Singh said that the incident took place around 3 am.

“A rescue operation was launched immediately. Twelve people were sent to the district hospital, where two injured people died. Seriously injured patients have been referred to the trauma centre,” he said.

He said that the rescue operation continued as few people were feared to be buried under the debris.
